Is The War in Iraq Helping You?

Bob Herbert's soul-searing question in the NY Times asks:

I wonder what the answers would be if each American asked himself or herself the question:
“How is the war in Iraq helping me?”

Please read his column.  (NY Times story here).

This is why Americans are energized in this primary campaign.  It explains why people around the world show unparalleled interest in the American Presidential election.

We could continue to lose blood and treasure in Iraq.  Apparently, nothing General David Petraeus could tell Congress answered the real questions: When can we get out?  Will we ever be able to leave?

Let's hope the answer to those questions is not:  When Americans run out of red-blooded soldiers to send, and when we run out of money to pay for the war.

Is The War in Iraq Helping You?

What's your answer?

Is The War in Iraq Helping You?

Yes it is. I was in Iraq in 03, Afganistan in 05 and I'm getting ready to return to Afganistan next month. It does me a world of good to see the good we are doing in those parts of the world. Is it all good? No but I believe if we don't stay and finish (which will take many years) we will be much worse off here at home (in the U.S.).
