A Difference in Opinion - Obama and Clinton

Here's a clear difference in policy between Sen. Obama and Sen. Clinton.

Clinton endorses a plan to suspend the federal excise tax on gasoline, which is 18.4 cents/gallon, for the summer travel season.  Obama is against this, claiming it wouldn't save people much money and wouldn't help to curtail oil consumption.

Clinton's plan is in line with John McCain's views.  She says it's simple, help consumers.  (NY Times story here).

Which plan do you think is better?

Hillary, change parties already

Once again, Hillary Clinton is showing her true colors... red, red and red. She once again boosts the candidacy of Grampa McInsane in hopes that it will tear down Obama's. All she is really doing is making herself look silly and making Obama look more presidential. By reducing gas taxes, Clinton and McSame aim to give consumers a break. How so? Oil companies will certainly jump in and raise their prices at the pump to cover some, if not most, of the potential savings. Due to varying state and local tax rates, the customer won't know how much tax is to be charged from city to city or state to state, and Big Oil will take advantage of that. Also, as Obama himself has pointed out, the potential savings over a two-month period would amount to only enough to buy about half a tank of gas. Assuming prices don't keep going up, of course. Gas taxes pay for road maintenance and new construction. America's infrastructure is decaying rapidly enough as it is; how will we make repairs with no funds? Not to mention the cost of auto repair to Joe Public after he fails to navigate around that wicked pothole that the state no longer can afford to patch. We need to cut our consumption of oil, not artificially stimulate it. Hillary, if you're going to push a Republican agenda, take it to a party that wants it. Oh yeah, I forgot. They don't want you either! :) Kevin M
