McCain: Troops Home by 2013

John McCain, the presumptive Republican candidate for President, today said he envisions most U.S. troops home by 2013.

“By January 2013, America has welcomed home most of the servicemen and women who have sacrificed terribly so that America might be secure in her freedom,’’ McCain predicted.  “The Iraq War has been won. Iraq is a functioning democracy, although still suffering from the lingering effects of decades of tyranny and centuries of sectarian tension. Violence still occurs, but it is spasmodic and much reduced.’’

The Democratic Party Chair, Howard Dean, responded: “The reality behind Senator McCain’s new rhetoric is that his plans either ignore the problems he identifies or actually makes them worse."   (NY Times story here).

Schools, food, highways, dams, New Orleans, oil prices, alternative fuels, money for fixing what's needed in the U.S., can these wait for 2013?  And that 2013 mention isn't signed on any dotted line...

Dream baby dream

It's nice to have dreams. I myself dream of many things. Like McCain not being president. It's OK for candidates to have dreams too, but if they want to make their dreams reality, they need a plan as to how they will do so. McCain either has no plan or declines to share it with us. Does McCain think he can snap his fingers and make everything better four years after we coronate him, I mean elect him? Did his physician adjust his meds recently? Barack Obama dreams of a better America. But unlike McCain, he has plans to make those dreams come true. Did I mention that by 2013, my personal wealth has now grown to fifteen million dollars? My lovely wife Carole is very pleased. See, I can dream too! :) Kevin M (Carole is thinking, "Damn RIGHT you're dreaming!)
