Keith Hennessey, Director of the National Economic Council, was talking about the housing crisis on CNBC. (

He warned that the U.S. government shouldn't necessarily embrace proposals to help that are now in Congress, warning that they might benefit special interests, not the economy.
"I think that we've taken the right actions. What we've got to make sure now is that government doesn't step in now in a well intentioned way and make the problem worse," he added.
